In order for conception to occur you have to have both the egg and sperm present in the fallopian tube. So, you would not conceive the day before ovulation. However, sperm can live for several days inside a woman, even as many as 6-7 days if conditions are optimal. If you have sex the day before you ovulate than sperm will most likely be present if you ovulate in the next day or two. When both sperm and egg are present, a viable pregnancy occurs about 20-25% of the time. The reason it isn’t 100% has many factors. One of the things can be that the sperm are not able to penetrate the egg properly so fertilization doesn’t take place. It is also possible that the initial fertilization is successful but when the embryo begins to divide there is something that happens to cause the division to be abnormal in some way. There can also be problems with implantation. Even when using various ovulation predictor kits and techniques such as monitoring cervical mucous and taking basal temperature, it is hard to pinpoint the exact moment of ovulation. After the egg is released from the ovary it remains alive for around 12-24 hours and some research suggests possibly as long as 48 hours. If you are trying to conceive, statistically there is an 85% chance that you will get pregnant within a year of trying.

chances are very high!!! sperm lives up to 3 days and when the egg is relased the egg will b waiting… if u BD the day of ovulation then the egg lives up to 24 hrs and the sperm will meet with it. good luck!!!!

Sperm lives for 5-7 days. If you have sex the day your egg is released thne it takes 12 hours for the entire process to take place. You can have sex the day before and the day after ovulation, because the egg live for 48-72 hours. The likelyhood of you getting pregnant is much higher if the sperm is waiting there for the egg, so this means that traveling time is cut down if you have unprotected sex the day before you ovulate. The best way to get pregnant is to have sex on all three days of fertilization. The day before, the day of, and the day after you ovulate. Hope these links help:
